Meduzarts dives once again into darkness for Middle Earth : Shadow of War

Almost ten years into working with WB Games studios, Meduzarts collaborates once again on the much anticipated Middle Earth : Shadow of War. This new opus is the continuation of Middle Earth : Shadow of Mordor and is part of the cult saga Lord of the Rings. The story dives the player directly in the depths of Middle Earth. Darker and gorier than its predecessor, we follow Talion evolving in a total war against Sauron and his army of Uruks.  Much appreciated from fans of the first episode, the Nemesis system is back with an improved version adapting to the players style of gaming and creating deeper rivalries between Talion and the different maleficent leaders.

For the project, the Meduzarts team created close to ten minutes of prerendered cinematics. The Mile-End studio successfully demonstrated their talent and innovation to Monolith studio, developer of the series based in Seattle. ‘’Meduzarts has the talent, drive, and flexibility to handle difficult tasks on almost any schedule.  For over eight years, they’ve been a reliable Monolith partner who’ve consistently produced at a very high level.’’ confides Nathan Henrickson, Director of cinematics for Monolith Studio.

Middle Earth : Shadow of War is the first project the Montreal based studio is using their new production pipeline combining Maya, Houdini and Vray’s software. ‘’Meduzarts delivered outstanding creativity and industry leading execution on a wide array of assets in support of Middle-earth: Shadow of War.’’ adds Philip Straub, artistic director at Monolith.

Adding to the ten minutes of pre-rendered cinematics in high definition, the Meduzarts team also produced next to fourteen minutes of in-game cinematics for J.R.R. Tolkien’s mythic universe. ‘’What an honor it is to be part of such an amazing cutting-edge project like Shadow of War. Thanks to WB Games and Monolith for once again trusting us with the creation of the vision sequences. We put much passion into this and are excited to see what is next!’’ concludes Louis-Philippe Vermette, producer at Meduzarts. Clearly we can feel this partnership being far from over.
